JUNE 25th EURO 2016 PREDICTIONS

EURO 2016 PREDICTIONS

The last sixteen are now taking the brave step towards eliminating half of them to remain with eight. It's a must. It's the law according to the knock out stages. After the two day break, today three matches will be played and three teams will say good bye to the competition. No mercy is the motto! There must be goals, there must be tears but all in all, there must be joy. Let's see how these teams fair, let's predict.

SWITZERLAND vs POLAND

The naked eye's view tells you that automatically Poland will win. How true that is? Nobody knows, just a speculation. In their last five matches, including three in the EURO 2016 group stages, Switzerland have won twice, drawn twice and lost once. They have collected an imaginary 8/15 points, scoring 5 times, 2 times in the competition and conceded 4 goals, 1 in the competition. Their counterparts, Poland have also won twice, drawn twice and lost once. They have collected an imaginary 8/15 points, scoring 3 times, 2 times in the competition and conceded 2 goals, non in the competition. A head to head review shows that in their last three meetings Poland emerged victorious twice, scoring under 2.5 goals and drew once with the match producing over 2.5 goals.

Verdict is that both teams are hard to beat, having not lost a match in the competition so far. The attitude in all sides is "It's now or never". The most likely outcome might be a draw with no goals but a win might come from either side with Poland being the favourites.

Prediction is that Any team to win, 1 OR 2
Prediction is UNDER 2.5
Prediction is BOTH TEAMS TO SCORE (NO)

WALES vs N.IRELAND

Today's derby match. I can say that individual brilliance and efforts may be the difference between the winner and looser of this match. There is a higher likelihood of Wales winning despite winning 2/5 previous matches. They have collected an imaginary 6/15 points, scoring 6 times, 6 times in the competition and conceded 7 goals, 3 in the competition. N.Ireland on the other hand have won twice, drawn once and lost twice collecting an imaginary 7/15 points, scoring 5 times, 2 times in the competition and conceding 2 goals, all in the competition. Their head to head review shows that Wales have won 2/5 previous meetings with the rest being draws. All 5/5 matches produced under 2.5 goals.

Verdict is that Wales' goal scoring ability in the competition is impressive, averaging 2 goals per match while N.Ireland averages 0.6 goals per match. Despite that being true, N.Ireland's conceding chances are 0.6 as compared to Wales' 1.0. This match will be tough and the probability of it ending up in a draw is high.

Prediction is Wales to win or draw, 1 OR X
Prediction is UNDER 2.5
Prediction is BOTH TEAMS TO SCORE(NO)

CROATIA vs PORTUGAL

This is a tricky match. Croatia's form has been impressive looking at its previous five, winning 4 and drawing 1. Though one may question San Marino's competitive ability, who they beat 10 goals to non. All in all, they have collected 12/15 points, scoring 16 goals, 5 in the competition and conceded 4 times, 3 in the competition. Portugal on the other hand, the competition's draw specialists have won once, drawn thrice and lost once. One may also question Estonia's competitiveness, who they beat 7 goals to non. They have collected an imaginary 6/15 points, scoring 12 times, 4 in the competition and conceded 5 goals, 4 in the competition. Their head to head review sees Portugal winning 3/3 matches with 2/3 producing UNDER 2.5 goals and one OVER 2.5.

Verdict is that Portugal may win this match, but it will be hard, producing very few goals if not one. A worst case scenario will be a draw.

Prediction is Portugal win or draw, 2 OR X
Prediction is UNDER 2.5
Prediction is BOTH TEAMS TO SCORE (NO)
